The sea arrives in the middle of the desert.
Khor Al Adaid is the reason the drive south exists. An hour of dunes out of Doha, a stop at the roadside to drop the tyre pressure, then the ridge breaks and salt water is sitting where sand should be. Most trips add a camel, a sandboard and tea in a camp before the run home.
Every Qatar trip splits three ways.

Qatar comes outside after sunset.
Souq Waqif only starts properly once the lamps come on and the falcon shops reopen. An hour south, the same evening is a fire in camp, dunes going cold and a sky with nothing in the way of it. Both run late enough to eat first.

Every safari stops at the camel pen for ten minutes. A few trips take it further: the falcon souq behind Souq Waqif, and the track at Al Shahaniya where robot jockeys work the rails while the owners drive alongside them.
The bay does the sightseeing for you.
A wooden dhow leaves the Corniche at dusk and the skyline lights up on cue. Further north the kayaks go quiet through the Purple Island mangroves at high tide. Two very different hours on the same coast.

Al Zubarah was a pearling town of six thousand people. What is left is a fort on a bare plain and a UNESCO listed outline under the sand. Carry on and the mosque at Al Jumail still stands over an abandoned village, and the mangroves at Al Thakhira close the loop.
Doha first, then the drives out.
The capital works in quarters. Souq Waqif for the evening. The museum on its own island. Msheireb for the white streets. The Pearl for the marinas. Everything else is a road out of town, and none of it takes more than a morning.

Two hours gets you anywhere in Qatar.
Nothing in Qatar needs an overnight. The inland sea is ninety minutes south, Al Zubarah the same going north, the Zekreet rock formations an hour west, and the camel track sits on the road to most of them.
